Introduction
In addition to providing higher living standards for Tijuana families, the houses built by Project Mercy and other non-profit organizations have brought additional color and vibrancy to the arid landscape of northern Mexico. One of the goals of Eco-politan is to provide yet another model for urban housing construction employing environmentally and economically sustainable practices.
Many residents of the colonias build commercial structures adjacent to their homes or storefront additions to the house itself

Eco-politan will employ local materials, manufacturers, and suppliers for the prototype house. Adobe brick — produced in the colonias [as seen stacked above] — will be used as infill for the wood frame construction.
